We are thrilled to introduce Rachel de Guzman, the inspirational woman behind City Dog Treat Bar.

What is your brand?

City Dog Treat Bar

Define your brand in three words.

Handmade. Modern. Small batch.

What about building your brand gives you energy?

The best feeling is that I get to be apart of dogs and their parents lives making memories. It inspires me to stay creative and fresh while never sacrificing quality.

Why did you start your brand?

I have rarely loved the accessories and treats found at big box pet stores, so I would sew Kingston, our beagle, collars and bandanas using modern fabrics I had from my previous sewing business. I developed a human-grade simple ingredient treat recipe to spoil him with. I had dreams of starting a business catering to dogs but no time as a busy mom of three. Then, early in the pandemic, I had the chance to pivot and focus on bringing City Dog Treat Bar to life. I knew there were people out there bonding with their pets like never before since we were all stuck at home! I created a brand that focuses on modern and fresh trends, but with the quality and care that comes with being handmade. City Dog is all about helping "pawrents" create memories with their pups in style, and with healthy dose of dog puns.

Where do you see your brand in 5 years?

I hope to keep growing and thriving. I am currently a one-woman show. I would love to scale up with an employee or two. I want to continue making connections around our beautiful city and beyond, increase our retail partnerships, and also develop bigger and more impactful ways of giving back to the many dog rescues and organizations doing the amazing work of saving lives and giving second chances.
